Selected as a “Woman of Distinction” during Women’s History Month in 2024, Dr. Uhrik was honored in a ceremony held at the California State Capitol in Sacramento as a fitting tribute to her tireless advocacy and profound impact.
Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Uhrik has not only enriched the lives of countless children but has also empowered aspiring educators worldwide through her insightful teachings. Her accolades, spanning from local honors to national recognition, reflect her relentless pursuit of excellence in improving the quality of life for children and families. It is said, that one of her greatest achievements has been as the Founder and past Executive Director of The Kids’ Breakfast Club which she started in 1992 and is still thriving today.
As an accomplished award-winning author, her works have resonated deeply, offering invaluable guidance and inspiration to kids, caregivers, parents, and communities alike. Dr. Uhrik continues to spearhead transformative initiatives. Throughout her role as a consultant for the California Department of Education, she led the charge in statewide programs like Character Education, Student Assistance Programs (SAPs), and the Prevention of Underage Drinking program, championing the well-being of at-risk youth.
Dr. Uhrik’s tireless efforts have not gone unnoticed, earning her recognition from a multitude of esteemed organizations including the Rotary Club, the US Congressional Record, the United States Presidential Award for Service, the Salvation Army, and the California State Assembly among others. Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Uhrik’s personal life, is where she finds joy and fulfillment in her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother.
